There are no TAP-Windows adapters on this system.

This error message can be seen in the logs generated by our app, or if you connect every single time to a server and you get disconnected almost immediately without any error messages. Usually there may be an antivirus software or another 3rd party application that may have uninstalled/blocked one of the dependencies that Tiger VPN is using called (TAP Windows).

To fix this issue, remove the application from your computer and download and install it again from here: https://www.tigervpn.com/download

If however, the re-install does not resolve this for you, please do make sure to perform the steps below:

Disable / Uninstall your current antivirus / firewall software.

Reboot your computer and then download and install the TAP driver from here: https://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/releases/tap-windows-9.9.2_3.exe

After this is completed you can install your antivirus/firewall.

If by any chance this still does not resolve it, you will have to perform the following steps:

Open regedit by searching for it in your Windows or press the Windows Key + R

Type in the new Window that comes up “regedit” and then press Ok

In the new prompt window that comes up choose “Yes” and then go to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001…0030

As per the screenshots below:

Once you have located the long number, please check each file starting from 0000 until you find on the right side the ProductName/ProviderName/DriverDesc -> TAP-Windows Adapter V9.

And make sure that the value for “ComponentId” and “MatchingDeviceId” is set to “tap0901”. Because if this is not the case and you have a different value, right click on “ComponentId” and choose “Modify”

Change the “Value data” to “tap0901” as per the picture below and then click Ok

Now search in Windows for “Device Manager” and open it up.

Right click on “Tap-Windows Adapter V9” and choose “Disable”, wait 20 seconds and then right click on it again and choose “Enable”.

Now everything should work properly.

All TAP-Windows adapters on this system are currently in use.

The error "All TAP-Windows adapters on this system are currently in use" suggests that there is a problem with the virtual Tun/Tap network adapter used by OpenVPN on Windows. To solve the issue, you need to re-enable the adapter or reinstall the driver.

Reinstall the Tap driver

Check if it is already installed by opening C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows

Right click on Uninstall and select Run as administrator

Download the Tap driver from here: https://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/releases/tap-windows-9.9.2_3.exe and install it (right click on it > Run as administrator).

Re-enable the adapter:

Search in Windows for “Device Manager” and open it up.

Right click on “Tap-Windows Adapter V9” and choose “Disable”, wait 20 seconds and then right click on it again and choose “Enable”.

As a last resort, you can also try re-installing the TigerVPN app.
